We have extensive experience accommodating people with disabilities. Each season, people with disabilities such as MS, CP, and paraplegia choose to join one of our regularly scheduled trips, on their own or with a friend or family member.
Adaptive equipment includes a paddle boat chair, accessible toilets, and beach tracks for wheelchair use on sandy beaches. Such equipment assists our guides in enabling individuals to participate in boating options, visits to side canyons and activities involved in camping out each night. All hikes in the Grand Canyon vary in length and terrain difficulty, and some are more accessible than others.
We also offer an annual charter trip for individuals with disabilities. The special focus of these trips allows us to take more adaptive equipment and to tailor the side canyon journeys around ease of accessibility. (On regularly scheduled trips accessibility must be balanced with the interests of all trip participants.) Anyone can join these trips which are open to individuals with and without disabilities.
Please call our office for more information if you have a disability and are interested in joining one of our trips.
