TO MAKE A RESERVATION

Sun Salutation
To make a reservation, please call our office to check availability and initiate your reservation. 1-800-654-0723 or (928)774-4559. If space is available on the trip of your choice, Trip Reservation Forms will be sent immediately to each member of your party. Our receipt of the completed Trip Registration Form(s) and $400 deposit check for each individual confirms your reservation(s). Forms and deposits are due back within two weeks of the reservation initiation. Because availability changes all the time, Registration Forms cannot be sent prior to the selection of a trip date, confirmation of space availability, and the initiation of a reservation by phone. Please note: Grand Canyon National Park Service regulations prohibit individuals from taking more than one recreational river trip (private or commercial) on the Colorado through Grand Canyon per year.

Upon receipt of your deposit and completed Registration Form, we will send you a confirmation letter (detailing the trip dates and orientation date in writing) and a statement/receipt for your deposit. Detailed logistical information comes later in our Float Note Booklet and the Retail Catalog; this information is revised each fall and is sent out at that time for those who register a year or more out. If you are registering six months or less before your trip, the Float Notes and Retail Catalog will arrive with your Registration Form. Forms for reserving spaces at our Flagstaff Hotel and Beverage Order Forms will arrive 5 months prior to your trip along with the bill for the balance of your trip fare. The trip fare balance is due and payable at any time up until 120 days before your trip. (Please note that we can not accept credit cards for deposits or final payments). If we are not in receipt of your balance 120 days before your trip, your reservation will be released and we will retain your deposit.

THINGS TO CONSIDER

OarboatTo enjoy a rafting trip in Grand Canyon you should be in good health and good physical condition. To help you decide if a canyon trip is right for you, detailed information about the canyon's environment and trip activities is provided in our Registration Form, and our reservations staff is available to answer questions about our trips.

Any outdoor activity has an element of risk, and trip participants read and sign an acknowledgment of risk form before embarking. Your safety is a primary concern, and our record is excellent. As on any camping trip, we may encounter rain, windy conditions, extremely hot or cold weather; you may be uncomfortable at times while out in nature's elements.

TRANSFERRING TO ANOTHER TRIP DATE

If you wish to change your trip date to another trip in the same season, your deposits and other payments may be credited to another trip. Our ability to transfer your reservation to another trip date is dependent on space availability and other logistics, and we reserve the right to deny a request for transfer. A $50 transfer fee applies. We must receive your request to change trips prior to 120 days before your trip date.

Please note that payments can be transferred only to trips in the same season; payments can not be transferred to the next year or other future seasons.

CANCELLATIONS AND SUBSTITUTIONS

Should you be unable to make your trip, you may substitute another individual into your reservation. There is a $50 substitution fee for substitutions made prior to 120 days before a trip and a $200 fee for substitutions made within 120 days before a trip.

Should you be unable to find a substitute, please note that $200 of the $400 deposit is non-refundable in the event of a cancellation made prior to 120 days before the trip date and the entire $400 deposit is non-refundable at 120 days prior to the trip date as are any additional payments made. (The balance of the trip fare is due by 120 days prior to the trip and is non-refundable as of the same deadline.)

If you find that you must cancel, the courtesy of a cancellation call as early as possible is appreciated by us and other would-be rafters looking for available spaces.

FINAL PAYMENTS

Once you have paid your initial reservation deposit, a receipt/statement detailing your balance due will be sent to you. Your 2002 trip fare balance is due and payable at any time up until 120 days before your trip. (Please note that we do not accept credit cards). If we are not in receipt of your balance 120 days before your trip, we will release your reservation and retain your deposit.

WIRE TRANSFERS:

An additional US$15 must be included with each wire transfer to cover our bank’s fees; likely your bank will add charges also. Your transmitting bank must be affiliated with a U.S. bank. After arranging your wire transfer, we’ll need a faxed copy of the transmittal sheet to know you’ve initiated the wire. Please call for routing and account information.

GROUP RESERVATIONS

Camp TalkTo process multi-person reservations, we request that each participant (or one member per couple/family residing at the same address) call us individually to make a booking. This assures us that each participant fully understands the nature of his or her trip, the specific logistics involved, and has taken personal responsibility for the status of his or her reservation.

CHARTER TRIPS

To charter a trip with Canyon Explorations/Expeditions you will need to call 18-24 months in advance as space quickly becomes limited. Even when space is available, Canyon Explorations/Expeditions can accommodate only a limited number of charter requests each year and requires time to consider the nature of each charter request. You will be need to have 18-20 trip participants ready to sign up. April and October trips may possibly be chartered with a smaller group size. Chartering a trip entitles you only to limit group participants to your group members; requests for changes to regular trip logistics cannot be accommodated.

An initial deposit of $400 per person is required to hold a charter trip date. A second deposit of $400 per person and completed Trip Registration Forms for each participant are due two months later. The balance of each participant's trip fare is due 6 months prior to the trip date. All payments are non-refundable. Substitutions may be made without fees or penalties until 6 months prior to the trip date.
