Jim Toney began his whitewater rafting career in 1979, running the creeks and rivers of Californias Sierra Nevada at age 17. Eight years later he moved on to the wild stretches of Idahos Salmon river. Jims been guiding in Grand Canyon since 1994, splitting his summers between the Canyon and Idaho. With a degree in Earth Science from UC Santa Cruz, Jim is well prepared to help people understand and appreciate the natural wonders of the Grand Canyon. Winter often finds Jim deep in powder, working as a ski patroller, cross-country ski instructor, backcountry ski guide, or simply enjoying his home state of Idaho.
