Ever since his first trip in 1979, Paul Smolenyak has been hooked on boating in the Grand Canyon. Paul started guiding with Canyon Explorations in 1990. A teacher by profession, Paul excitedly shares his wealth of knowledge on subjects such as botany, Native American history, and geology. His gleeful curiosity is undeniably contagious. On quiet evenings in the Canyon, Paul loves to sing and play his guitar accompanied by the sound of the river rolling by. When not in the Canyon Paul lives in Prescott, Arizona where he teaches chemistry at Yavapai College.
