Sam Jansen started his Grand Canyon career as a researcher for the U.S. Geological Survey doing water and sediment studies. As field work evolved into office work he realized he couldn’t stay away from the canyon and left the government to become a river guide full time. He loves being on water in any form, be it fresh, salty, or frozen. When not in the canyon he can be found sea kayaking in Baja, rafting in Alaska, or snowboarding in the Cascades.
